John Lloyd is a business growth strategist, marketing consultant, media planner/negotiator/buyer, speaker, trainer, author and columnist. He has built a marketing consulting practice, Brandstorm, based on result and value-based consulting rather than simply selling time.

He is a regular speaker and MC at local and international conferences. He has been recognised as the Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) Western Cape Communicator of the Year.

His life philosophy is, “You can get everything you want in life, as long as you help enough other people get what they want.”

  • 2002 – Under his marketing leadership Independent Newspapers Cape awarded Marketing Organisation of the Year Award by the Institute of Marketing Management
  • 2003 – Chaired the World Forum of Newspaper Marketing in Cape Town
  • 2003 – Project managed a commemorative supplement honoring Nelson Mandela’s 85th birthday. This supplement was published in 19 South African daily newspapers on his birthday
  • 2005 – MC of the CIETT World Recruitment Conference
  • 2007 – Speaker at the National Credit Indaba in Johannesburg
  • 2004 to 2007 – assisted the Niall Mellon Townships Initiative in building 8 000 brick homes for township families who previously lived in shacks. Consultant for the Mandela Rhodes Foundation and served as a board member of Archbishop Tutu’s Kids with HIV Foundation
  • 2007 and 2008 – MC and speaker at the APSO (Association of Personnel Services Organisations) National Recruiters Conference in Johannesburg
  • 2010 – MC of the APSO Western Cape Recruiters Indaba
  • 2010 – MC of TICE (Travel Industry Charity Events) in Cape Town
  • 2011 – Managed the media marketing on behalf of the City of Cape Town for the successful Table Mountain bid for New 7 Wonders of Nature during the final seven weeks of voting campaign
  • 2011 – Guest speaker at Euro Football Championships 2012 conference in Warsaw, Poland
